Grace Health Centre (GHC) serves a socio-economically diverse, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic population practicing various faiths with comprehensive individual, marriage and family therapy.
As an intern at GHC, you will have the opportunity to encounter a wide range of issues with individuals, couples and families such as marital discord, separation, trauma, divorce, parenting issues, family life cycle transitions, grief, stress, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, addictions, personality disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, sexual difficulties, codependence, behavioral and psychiatric issues such as bipolar and schizoaffective disorder, and delusional and dissociative disorders.
At present, due to the pandemic, most therapy sessions are conducted online using the Ontario Telehealth Network (OTN) with EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy – Sue Johnson) training on Zoom.
Grace Health Centre offers two unique direct patient-engagement internship and certification training opportunities.
Counselling placements are available in English, Cantonese or Mandarin.
1) Counselling Psychotherapy Internship
This internship / practicum is geared toward graduate-level students completing academic psychotherapy requirements.
Masters- or Doctorate-level students studying in the following fields and requiring clinical hours are welcome to apply for the internship / practicum:
- Family Medicine
- Psychotherapy
- Social Work
- Psychology
- Nursing
2) Advanced Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Training
This training is geared toward entry-level to advanced-level graduate students as well as healthcare practitioners offering psychotherapy who are working towards certification in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) through ICEEFT (www.iceeft.com) for all english training and (www.reconnecteft.com) for all cantonese training.
